The L’Ormarins Queens Plate was attended by scores of punters and international celebrities. South Africa’s top 16 thoroughbreds made a splendid appearance at the Kenilworth racecourse on Saturday, the 9th of January 2016. The much anticipated leading weight-for-age horse thrilled punters. Outsider Legal Eagle, ridden by jockey Anton Marcus took the R 1 million purse. The Cartier Politician stakes was won by Black Arthur, with Pierre Strydom in the saddle.
The Cape’s premier race not only excited punters and visitors, but as usual the tracksider with unique décor pieces and 5000 attendees donning their finest blue and white outfits in pursuit of the days’ coveted Best Dressed accolades. The Best Dressed man award, sponsored by Cartier, was won by Jorge Mavova, while the Best Dressed Lady prize went to Naledi Mabuso.
