On various occasions leopards, in this case apparently two adults and a cub, were sighted on our farm, in particular Ginaskloof in 2013. A half-devoured hedgehog, together with leopard tracks were observed right there too.
Some guards, quite awe-stricken, talked about “huge yellow eyes” in the shrubs close to La Garonne Manor House. There too, tracks were found in the garden. Even more fascinating is the leopard which hovers around the east entrance.
Since the leopard is a large, carnivorous quadruped it would prefer a diet consisting of hedgehogs, duikers, dogs, cats and small baboons. We have ambitious ideas for the future, for example cameras which would produce more than thermic images as well as perhaps get the involvement of the Cape Leopard Trust.
We look forward with great anticipation to exciting news and events and shall keep our readers up to date.
